The U.S. Air Force announced Friday that a 23-year-old Airman with the Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field, Florida, was shot and killed in an incident involving a sheriff’s deputy.
The U.S. Air Force said in a statement Monday that Senior Airman Roger Fortson, 23, died at his off-base residence.

Fortson was taken to a hospital where he died, officials said.
Fortson was assigned to the 4th Special Operations Squadron. The sheriff’s office said the deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the incident.
