Airbnb Tells Customer Los Angeles Wildfires Don’t Count as ‘Major Disruptive Event’

Airbnb customers claim the company refused to rebook their stays in Los Angeles as polar winds sparked wildfires that destroyed historic homes and displaced tens of thousands of people. The Silicon Valley giant says the wildfires raging across Los Angeles are not a “large-scale destructive event.” The post prompted many people to share their own scary experiences with Airbnb.

“Thank you, Airbnb,” X user Anna Mostarak wrote sarcastically in a post on Wednesday, noting that the cancellations she received from Airbnb were “not covered” by the company's “Major Disruptive Events Policy.” I shared a message to let you know.

“For clarification, I called Airbnb and asked for help rebooking accommodations far from the danger zone. As usual, their policies were taken out of context.” wrote Mostarak in a follow-up X post.

Airbnb was then slammed by social media users in the comments section.
