Airplane pilot leaves cockpit to help deliver baby during flight to Thailand: ‘Born in the air’

A pilot who helped deliver a newborn in the air has added a new title to his name.

Jacalyn Saranlaxkul is a father of one and a pilot with 18 years of experience. He was on a Vietjet flight from Taipei, Taiwan to Bangkok, Thailand when an emergency occurred on board.

According to Viral Press, Saranlakshkul, who was piloting the plane, left the cockpit after being told by a flight attendant that a woman was in labor in the onboard toilet.

With a female co-pilot in control of the plane, Saranrakkul rushed to the expectant mother and discovered that she was in active labor.

As soon as she reached the pregnant woman’s side, Saranlakshukul delivered the baby while the plane was still several thousand feet in the air.

Saranlaxkul told Viral Press that she had never given birth to a baby before. In his 18-year pilot career, he definitely never gave birth.

Emergency personnel were waiting for the plane when it landed in Bangkok, Thailand.

“I’m so proud to have helped bring him into the world.”

Both mother and child were confirmed to be safe.

Saranlakshukul told Viral Press that she was proud that she was able to give birth to the baby.

“For the rest of his life, he will be able to tell everyone that he was born in the air,” he said of his newborn baby boy.

He continued, “I’m so proud to have helped bring him into the world.”

The pilot said all the flight attendants were very cooperative in getting to the pregnant woman in labor quickly. (viral press)

Saranrakkul said the crew nicknamed the baby “Sky” in honor of the baby’s whirlwind and chaotic birth in the sky.
