Struggles for the Eagles Continue
The Eagles seem to be in need of a team meeting to address some ongoing issues.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, and wide receiver AJ Brown allegedly met on Monday to talk about the offensive struggles impacting their championship-caliber play. However, Brown was the only one to deny that any such meeting took place.
“I don’t recall that meeting,” Brown said following Thursday’s 34-17 defeat against the Giants. “I have no idea what you’re referring to.”
Hurts and Barkley had both commented on the supposed meeting during the week, making Brown’s denial particularly concerning in what’s already been a tumultuous season.
When pressed further, Brown suggested reporters “talk to them.” But, interestingly, he later clarified his position on Friday.
“I just wanted to address this issue,” he explained. “It wasn’t a formal meeting. I said ‘I don’t remember’ because it was depicted as all tense and (Barkley) had to step in. That’s not the case. I was heading to my car, saw them, and we had a casual chat. Nothing beyond that.”
The Eagles’ offensive troubles became apparent again during their recent matchup, where they attempted their signature tush-push play four consecutive times in the second quarter but failed to score after halftime, marking their second loss in a row.
Brown recently drew attention for expressing frustration after a lackluster performance against the Buccaneers, where he recorded only two catches for seven yards.
Receiver DeVonta Smith also appeared to point fingers at Hurts following the Week 5 loss to the Broncos, highlighting a potential disconnect in communication on the field.
“Sometimes he signals to us either before or after we make our read. We really need to be in sync,” Smith noted. “There was just a slight hiccup in the route. He might have seen something before the snap, but there were definitely times we missed it.”
With the Eagles’ season looking increasingly precarious, it seems they might need to reevaluate their approach—whether that means stepping up communication or perhaps even taking a step back.
