Al Gore Critiques Trump Over Renewable Energy
Former Vice President Al Gore has harshly criticized President Donald Trump during a recent interview, accusing him of launching a “jihad” against the transition to renewable energy. In a discussion with Axios, Gore pointed out that Trump’s current approach to clean energy is more aggressive than during his first term in office. He mentioned that there are now more external pressures against Trump, particularly from outside the United States.
“If you take a global perspective, the U.S. is facing a distorted playing field alongside Trump’s jihad against the sustainability transition,” Gore commented. The exact timing of his remarks is unclear, but Axios published them on Wednesday.
Gore’s use of the term “jihad” follows the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, which has reignited discussions about the impact of political rhetoric on violence. This tragic event has made some leaders question how political discourse contributes to a charged atmosphere, as seen in comments from figures like House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Gore is known for his provocative remarks aimed at his political opponents. Earlier this year, he controversially likened the Trump administration to Nazi Germany, acknowledging the sensitivity of such comparisons. He stated, “I understand why it’s wrong to compare Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich with other movements… However, there are important lessons from the history of its emerging evil.” He referenced the philosophical reflections of German thinkers following World War II.
In the past, Gore has drawn parallels between climate change deniers and law enforcement’s hesitation during a mass shooting incident in Uvalde, Texas, saying, “Climate deniers really resemble all of the nearly 400 law enforcement officers in Uvalde waiting outside the unlocked door while the children were being slaughtered.”
Gore asserted that we’ve reached a critical moment regarding climate change, emphasizing that inaction is unacceptable when solutions are available.
Fox News Digital has attempted to reach both Gore and the White House for further comments.
