Fifteen people were injured and three people were killed in a shooting at a large spring-themed event in Stockton, Alabama, on Saturday, police said.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office announced the injuries and deaths in a Facebook post Sunday night. Authorities said the shooting began in a field on Upper Bryant’s Landing Road around 9:30 p.m.
“Our preliminary investigation revealed that local residents hosted a May Day event in a field in Upper Bryant yesterday.” [sic] Landing Road,” the post said.
Authorities said the event, which had about 1,000 attendees, was peaceful “until an altercation broke out.”

”[The argument] “At least one subject fired multiple shots into the large crowd,” officials explained, adding, “A total of 18 people were shot and killed in this incident. Unfortunately, three of the victims sustained injuries from their wounds. died from.”
Authorities are actively searching for the suspect. Police believe multiple gunmen were involved and are “following leads.”

The sheriff’s office added in a statement: “This is a tragic event that touches many lives in our community.” “We are working hard to solve this case, but we cannot arrest or prosecute criminals without assistance.”
