Alabama continues to receive the benefit of the doubt from the College Football Playoff Committee.
Miami's playoff hopes suffered a potentially fatal precipitous drop, but Alabama dropped in the final rankings on Tuesday night before the 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is set next weekend. Moved up the ranking.

The Hurricanes (10-2) fell six spots to 12th place, becoming the first team to fall outside of the expected rankings after suffering their second loss of the season. They are projected to be the last team in the standings, one spot behind the Crimson Tide (9-3), who won last week and moved up two spots to 11th place.
This was the strongest sign yet that the selection committee was considering not just wins and losses, but also the strength of schedule and other factors that seemed to favor the Southeastern Conference.

Oregon State remains in first place for the fifth straight week and enters Saturday's Big Ten title game as the only undefeated team in college football's big leagues.
The brackets for college football's first 12-team playoff will be determined on Sunday, the day after a series of conference title games. Playoff games begin on December 20th, with the title game scheduled for January 20th in Atlanta.
