Anchorage police responding to a disturbance call shot and killed a man who pointed a gun early Monday morning, Police Chief Bianca Cross said.
“Four officers fired their weapons, striking an adult male once in the upper body and at least once in the upper body,” Cross said at a news conference.

Officers approached the complex on foot and opened fire when the man raised a gun, Cross said.
The shooting was recorded on the officer’s body camera and will be released after the investigation.
Cross declined to provide other details of the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
The state’s Office of Special Prosecutions will determine whether the officers’ use of deadly force was justified. Following this investigation, the police department’s internal affairs division will look into whether any policy violations occurred in the shooting.
The four police officers involved were placed on paid leave for four days. Their names will be released three days after the shooting.
