As Flight of the Conchords once proclaimed: it’s business time. The New Zealand duo might have been talking about the importance of recycling and the birds and the bees, rather than the conclusion of Group B at the 2024 European Championships, but the point stands: things are hotting up and there’s everything to play for.

Well, nearly everything. Spain have already topped the group, owing to their superior head-to-head record over Italy, but that’s pretty much all that has been decided.

As mentioned, Italy, Albania or Croatia could still have a chance of qualifying if they fail to finish at least second in becoming one of the four best third-placed teams. As per Uefa, the four best third-placed teams across the six groups are determined, in the order given, by the following criteria:

Confused? Don’t be, I’ll guide you through it as we go. But the basic point to remember, in this group at least, it’s (nearly) all up for grabs.

Important Events

I thought this was a very interesting read About the history of Albanian football.

And here is our guide to the Euro 2024 team, led by former Arsenal defender Sylvinho.

“Germany’s regulations“That’s the way to win against England,” Charles Antaki emailed. “It’s true that no team other than Spain has under-17 players, but there must be other rules that remove some obstacles along the way. Slovenia must have players who didn’t fill in their TV license forms correctly, France must have a bunch of players who submitted their tax returns late, Germany… well, the strategy will fail at that point, but at least England will find out in the final.”

Nico Williams The other Spain star who will be on the bench tonight is one of the most exciting players ever.

Nico Williams

Syd Lowe talks about the Athletic star after his performance against Italy.

Not surprisingly, Williams is on this list as well.

Perhaps not surprisingly Sixteen-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal will be on the bench tonight, as Spain could be fined for playing him. German rules prohibit players under the age of 18 from working after 8pm local time, but players can play until 11pm, including time for showers and media appearances. The game is scheduled to finish just before 11pm, so it’s unlikely Lamine will be out of the stadium in time.

Of note, most of the final will be played at 9pm CET, meaning this will be a recurring issue for Spain. Lamine will not turn 17 until the day after the final. German authorities have yet to confirm whether Spain will receive special treatment for Lamine.

Albanian striker Mirlind Dak He is not with the squad tonight as he was suspended for two matches for using a megaphone to join in with supporters’ patriotic chants after Albania’s draw with Croatia.

The attractive Spanish playersBased on Prime Minister Luis de la Fuente’s press conference yesterday, his comments suggested that there will be no radical reforms.

A lot is at stake tomorrow: reputation, recognition, and wanting to keep improving. We will approach this match as if it were our last, just like any other match. Of course, we have a game plan for the players we think will be suitable for this match. We want to win every match, so we are only focused on winning.

The last thing we want is injuries. We’re just focused on putting out the best players for our game plan. Of course, you might say this guy is resting, that guy is resting, but this is a seven-game tournament. We can’t be worried about injuries or suspensions.

Look at that Spain team! There have been 10 changes from the starting line-up for the last match against Italy! 10!

preamble

As Flight of the Conchords once proclaimed, it’s business time. The New Zealanders could have been talking about recycling and the importance of the birds and the bees rather than the outcome of Group B at Euro 2024, but the point is: things are heating up and it’s all going to have to be on the line.

Well, pretty much everything. Spain already tops the group thanks to their head-to-head win against Italy, but that’s pretty much it.

Heading into the final match, Group B standings are as follows: As well as the final group matches, Albania v Spain and Italy v Croatia will be played at the same time, both with kick-off times of 8pm BST / 9pm CET.

As mentioned above, Italy, Albania and Croatia still have a chance to qualify if they don’t finish in the top two of the top four teams in the top three. According to UEFA, the top four teams in the top three of the six groups will be ranked according to the following criteria:

1) A large number of points
2) Goal difference
3) Scoring
4) More wins
5) Low disciplinary record
6) Overall ranking of the European Qualifiers

Confused? Don’t worry, we’re here to explain, but the basic point to remember, at least with this group, is that (almost) everything is at your disposal.

kick off: 8pm BST/9pm CET.
