Alec Baldwin Involved in Car Accident
Alec Baldwin attributed the crash of his wife’s Range Rover into a tree to a large garbage truck that he described as “the size of a whale.” The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in the Hamptons.
Baldwin, 67, was driving with his brother Stephen when the accident took place on the side of Montauk Highway in East Hampton.
In a video shared on Instagram later that evening, Baldwin expressed regret over the incident, humorously stating that he had even “cut off his own head.” He explained that to avoid collision with the garbage truck, he ended up hitting “a big, thick tree,” causing significant damage to the car, which belonged to his wife. “I crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s okay. I’m okay, and my brother is okay,” he remarked.
Photographs from the scene showed a National Waste Service garbage truck present after the crash, indicating it had been involved.
The video Baldwin shared mixed footage of the accident with clips from the Hamptons International Film Festival, which he attended just before the crash. Throughout the video, he congratulated festival participants, including his fellow chairs and members of the executive committee.
While he was visibly relieved about his and his brother’s safety, Baldwin took a moment to commend law enforcement, particularly “Officer Gerken” from the East Hampton Police Department, for their assistance.
Despite the accident, Baldwin tried to maintain a light tone, saying, “Everything about it is as nice as it can be, and it’s as fun as it can be.” He also took a moment to compliment his wife, Hilaria, perhaps as a way to assuage his guilt over damaging her vehicle. “Hilaria, I love you more than anything. I’m so proud of you,” he said.
Looking ahead, Baldwin mentioned he was preparing for a trip to visit family on the West Coast and was getting ready for a segment on an upcoming season of a reality show. “I can’t wait. I’m going to California to meet my family, spend a few days there, and then go home,” he shared.
He ended his remarks on a lighter note, joking about the typical chaos that surrounds him: “Aside from typical insanity, I’m fine,” he said, gesturing playfully at the side of his head.
