Alex Bregman Reflects on Team USA’s Journey in the World Baseball Classic

While the outcome might not have been what he had hoped for, Alex Bregman treasured every experience representing his country during the recent World Baseball Classic (WBC).

The United States ultimately lost to Venezuela in the WBC finals, a disappointing ending after having fallen short against Japan in 2023. Yet, beyond the wins and losses, players like Bregman appreciate the honor of donning the red, white, and blue, especially following a powerful pregame address.

Robert O’Neill, a former Navy SEAL involved in the mission that killed Osama bin Laden, spoke to Team USA before their quarterfinal match against Canada. Bregman noted that O’Neill’s stories resonated throughout the team and served as a poignant reminder of the deeper meaning behind their competition.

Bregman shared, “None of us knew going inside, and we got to hear some incredible stories about being a SEAL. It really highlighted how fortunate we are. There are so many brave individuals who safeguard our freedoms every day.” He also mentioned his partnership with Sloan Sports Coffee, alongside figures like Patrick Mahomes and Brianna Stewart.

“It was a really impactful speech. I believe our players realized that we’re competing for more than just baseball. We’re playing for them, and we’re grateful for their contributions to our safety,” he added.

However, O’Neill’s speech drew its share of criticism. Detractors condemned the pro-war sentiment, while others argued that celebrating his heroism helped players like Bregman gain insight into the significance of representing their country on a global stage.

As Bregman enters his 11th MLB season after signing a five-year contract with the Chicago Cubs, he elaborated, “It’s truly an honor to represent your country. I take great pride in flying the Stars and Stripes, and I will always embrace that opportunity.”

Looking ahead, the next WBC is scheduled for March 2030, but Bregman noted that Team USA is also focused on seeking “a little redemption” at the 2028 Summer Olympics, where baseball will be played in Los Angeles.

After the narrow loss to Venezuela, he stated, “We’ve been discussing the Olympics since the last out. I want to come back and win.”

Preparing for the MLB Season with a Caffeine Boost

Bregman understands that the upcoming MLB season will be a long one. With a 162-game schedule ahead, he recognizes the importance of staying energized, especially as he adapts to the Cubs’ day games. Again, he sees value in Throne SPORT Coffee, which not only energizes but also includes essential B vitamins.

Developed by beverage expert Michael Fedele, Throne SPORT Coffee offers both premium charged lattes and cold brews, providing a blend of natural caffeine and protein that athletes like Bregman rely on.

Bregman, who connected with Fedele two years back when he was with the Houston Astros, has continued this partnership with the Cubs. “Chicago is a major market for Throne SPORT Coffee, so it feels like a perfect fit. I invested because I believe in the product. If you want to extend your career in this game, it’s essential to take care of your body,” he remarked.

Bregman enjoys their Black Cold Brew but also experiments with flavors like Mint Mocha Cold Brew and Salted Caramel Latte. “We’re excited to partner with them and bring our team that caffeine boost at every game,” he said, looking forward to the season ahead.
