Alex Hall from the U.S. wins a silver medal at the Winter Olympics.

American skier Alex Hall secured the silver medal in the men’s freeski slopestyle event during the Winter Olympics on Tuesday, boosting Team USA’s total medals count.

The competition was certainly intense. Hall was eager to defend the gold he claimed at the 2022 Beijing Games. Since men’s slopestyle was introduced to the Olympics in 2014, the United States has pretty much dominated this event. So, anything less than a bronze might have felt like a disappointment for him.

His first run? A bit rough. He only managed a score of 52.65 points. But things turned around in his second run, where he scored an impressive 85.75 points. He aimed for an even higher score on his third run, but unfortunately slipped and couldn’t surpass his earlier score.

Still, that 85.75 was enough for silver.

Norway’s Birk Ruud took home the gold, nailing an 86.28 in his initial run. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Luca Harrington delivered a nearly flawless third run, securing the bronze after edging out Switzerland’s Andri Ragettori.

Hall’s silver marked the second medal for Team USA that day, following cross-country skier Ben Ogden’s achievement.

This win also added another medal to Hall’s Olympic career tally, doing better than his bronze finish at the 2025 World Championships in this same event.
