Alexa PenaVega fully surrendered to God following daughter’s stillbirth: ‘Give this pain purpose’

A month after announcing her daughter’s stillbirth, actress Alexa PenaVega is thankful for a stronger faith in God.

“All things considered, we’re actually doing very well,” she told her followers in an emotional video posted to the social platform.

“We read all your messages of support and are so grateful. We felt every prayer you’ve given us. Let me tell you, how else are we going to get through this season?” I don’t know if we would have been able to do it.”If you didn’t lift us up with your prayers…No matter what anyone says, the power of prayer is truly great. ”

PenaVega said losing her daughter Indi was “the most traumatic event” not only she but her entire family had experienced. She has relied heavily on her faith to get through her grief.

“It’s been really incredible to see how God has moved through our family during this time. We’ve obviously felt a lot of pain, a lot of pain, but at the same time, it’s incredible to see how God has moved through our family. I also felt a peace that I didn’t know before. It was like God had really met us. This is a place between pain and peace,” she explained. “It doesn’t really make sense, it’s just that His supernatural peace covers us and allows us to continue walking through this valley, even as we grieve, but not alone and not without purpose. there is no. .”

“This season I learned a lot about pain with purpose,” the “Spy Kids” star explained.

“Losing Indy was so hard. And my health deteriorated so much right after I lost her. And no one could understand what was wrong. And it was hard for all of us to get over it. “It was a very difficult season,” she revealed. “But I don’t think I’ve ever surrendered to God like this in my life. You’re thinking, ‘God, I surrender. I surrender. I surrender.’ ‘But until you get to this point, you don’t even know what kind of surrender you’re capable of.’

PenaVega, who announced her pregnancy in November 2023, documented the experience for her followers. She spoke openly about all the difficulties she faced. She had experienced a scare before and in her third trimester she was hospitalized for 5 days due to bleeding.

PenaVega recalled her time in the hospital after Indy’s birth and said she hoped God would show her that her pain had a purpose.

“I remember completely surrendering and feeling the pain in my heart from the loss and the pain in my body trying to understand what was happening to me. I was like, ‘God, I want this pain. Give me purpose, always.” I prayed, “I am in pain, God, give me purpose.” Whatever it is, God, please don’t let this pain go to waste.” That was my prayer. ”

“Indi’s little life has completely changed us. Our family has never been stronger. My faith has never been stronger. My marriage has never been stronger. He was incredibly strong,” she said through tears. “Her life was so purposeful, even in the little time we spent together. And although she may never have breathed another breath on this earth, It wasn’t aimless.”

PenaVega and her husband Carlos are the parents of two sons and a daughter. The two married in 2014, shortly after meeting at a Bible study group.
