Election poller Nate Silver believes that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is likely to become the 2028 Democratic presidential candidate.
Trump hasn’t been president for more than 100 days this term, but that has not stopped many people from speculating who will challenge Republicans.
Silver, to him Silver Britain Subsack, I insisted Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the progressive “squad,” will lead the Democrats into the next presidential cycle.
Former FiveThirtyeight Podcast host Galen Druke agreed to Silver and found New York Progressive was one of the best net favor ratings among Democrats and one of the positive net favor ratings of 60 points. The investigation was placed after the second most likely presidential candidate failed presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I think there are a lot of points in her favor at this moment,” Druke said. “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a wide range of appeal across the Democrats.”

“Equally important is the fact that she has very enthusiastic support. I think a lot of people are planning on running in 2028, and that’s going to be a contest to win such a person to keep someone who might be on your boat thick and thin,” continues Druke.
Silver agreed, but warned that she wasn’t sure if Ocasio-Cortez would run, adding that her chances would depend on the 2026 midterm elections and whether Democrats are concerned about her potential choices.
“She has learned a lot as a politician since opposing Amazon, particularly the early days of ‘abolition.’ [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]”It was something that was very unpopular,” Druke explained, citing Ocasio-Cortez’s changing rhetoric.
When Democrats appeared to be spinning without stopping the helm after Trump’s election, many Democrats saw hope at a rally held by Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
