Swizz Beatz Faces Significant Tax Issues
Swizz Beatz is, once again, in the spotlight for unpaid taxes.
The husband of renowned singer and producer Alicia Keys owes over $5.7 million in back taxes, dating back to 2022, according to reports. Recent financial records reveal that he was hit with a lien of $1,242,984 from the IRS in January for unpaid income taxes from 2024.
Overall, Beatz is on the hook for a staggering $5,725,257 in federal taxes related to his personal income. This amount includes about $4,482,273 in unpaid taxes from his returns for 2022 and 2023.
Interestingly, his wife is not mentioned in the lien.
Before these current issues, the Bronx-native, whose real name is Kaseem Dean and who is reportedly worth $150 million, had a history of accumulating hefty tax debts over the years.
Since 2008, he and his ex-wife, Mashonda Tiffrere, have been ensnared in a series of federal liens, even prompting him to file lawsuits in New York, Georgia, and California. By 2012, his bill had surged to about $2.6 million, which also included over $98,000 owed in New York state taxes.
However, representatives for Beatz had previously indicated to media outlets that he had settled some of this debt. Records reveal he had to pay $655,785 to the IRS in 2016 due to unpaid taxes from the years 2009, 2014, and 2015.
With an impressive résumé producing hits for prominent artists like DMX, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé, Beatz also has two sons with Keys and three more children from earlier relationships.
Despite his financial woes, Beatz has made considerable investments outside the music industry. Notably, he’s ventured into Saudi Arabia’s luxurious camel racing scene, reportedly spending millions on over 50 racing camels for his team, Saudi Bronx, which has seen success in races across the Middle East.
Beatz’s business manager, Jeffrey Fineman, described the debt as “old news,” mentioning that there are ongoing disputes over certain issues and that Beatz is “working toward resolution.”
