Lizzo, the pop star known for her progressive views and as a surrogate for Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 presidential campaign, expressed that Nicki Minaj’s support for Donald Trump is influenced primarily by financial interests. She anticipates a trend where more celebrities will align themselves with Trump for similar reasons.
Instead of exploring Minaj’s motivations, Lizzo simplistically attributed her support to her background as a famous singer who is just chasing monetary gains and perks.

“I was getting these texts about Nicki and I thought, ‘What is this about?'” Lizzo shared, adding that she had no prior knowledge of the situation. After doing some research, she concluded that celebrity opinions about one another aren’t particularly impacting and that her take on Minaj is irrelevant.
“What I’m saying is you’re going to witness a wave of people finding it more advantageous to join that side. This has already begun, and it’s going to keep on going,” the “Rumors” singer elaborated.
Lizzo mentioned that Trump still has “three years left” in his presidency and hinted at the possibility of surprising individuals emerging during that time, suggesting that there are undisclosed conservative voices in entertainment who may soon feel encouraged to express their views publicly.
“That might be upsetting for some,” Lizzo warned her fans. “You might be disappointed.”
“It’s crucial to understand that money drives almost everything,” she observed. “Privilege plays a role in every action these individuals take, and it doesn’t really surprise me.”
Interestingly, Lizzo’s comments about Minaj seem to reflect a mindset that views support for a Republican president as lacking merit unless there’s a financial incentive involved, despite her own backing of Kamala Harris in the election.
Additionally, her statements might inadvertently suggest that celebrities could be financially incentivized to endorse political positions, something that Democrats often deny.
It’s been evident for many years that numerous conservatives in the entertainment industry often conceal or minimize their views in public, likely believing that openly supporting Republicans in a predominantly left-leaning industry would hinder their careers.
Lizzo’s remarks come right after Minaj spoke at Turning Point USA’s America Fest last weekend, where she praised Trump and indicated that participating in this event was more significant than any concert she’s done globally. She linked the organization to a “direct connection between young people and God.”
Minaj articulated her reasons for supporting Trump, noting his serious approach to the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria at the hands of Islamic extremists, a matter that deeply resonates with her.
During Christmas, Trump had announced plans for the U.S. to conduct a “strong and deadly attack” against ISIS terrorists in Nigeria, who have been identified as responsible for the substantial targeting and killing of Christians there.
