Alleged car burglars scurry away in a hurry after Texas man confronts them with AR-15: ‘I’m just not taking it anymore’

A Texas man said he used an AR-15 to scare away a group of car robbers and warned anyone in his neighborhood who might try to do the same.

Terry Willis told KHOUTV He said he noticed the stranger's presence through surveillance cameras at his home in the Houston suburb of Cypress.

There had previously been reports of car break-ins in the neighborhood, so Willis grabbed an AR-15 rifle and went outside.

Surveillance video showed the robbers circling a parked car, checking to see if the door handle was open.

“There was a UTV in the back of the truck with a hook attached to it, and they were trying to get into the vehicle side-by-side and take it off the trailer,” Willis said.

The video shows Willis walking outside with a rifle. When the suspects were warned, they fled in panic.

“I told them, I said, I don't think you want to do this,” Willis said. “I put the bolt back in and put the shell in the chamber.”

Video shows them running away quickly.

“They were going to leave, and that's what I wanted, I wanted them out of here. I don't want to kill anyone, but if it comes down to it to protect my family. , I'll kill you,'' Willis said.

He went on to say that he has extensive experience with guns.

“For about 20 years, I've had concealed weapons permits. I've taken a hunter safety course. I've made guns, I've made ARs,” he explained.

There was no property damage or injuries in the incident, but police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

Willis also issued a warning to anyone who might come into the neighborhood to commit robbery.

“I've worked for 40 years of my life. Everything I have…I've never stolen anything, and I just don't take it anymore,” he said.

“This is not the place to come anymore, because I'm tired of it,” Willis concluded.
