Concerns Over Biden’s Cognitive Health Raise Questions
On Friday, Alyssa Farah Griffin, a co-host of “The View,” expressed her belief that former White House officials might be concealing information about President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. This statement came after these officials, including Biden’s doctor Kevin O’Connor and former aides Annie Tomasini and Anthony Bernal, invoked the Fifth Amendment during their testimonies in front of the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Biden’s health and the use of autopen signatures.
Griffin pointed out that their refusal to answer what she described as basic questions suggests there’s something serious being hidden. She commented, “I try to make people want to ask more questions, sorry,” and mentioned her obligation as a former government employee to serve the public and the country.
Co-host Joy Behar questioned the lack of responses from the officials. Griffin replied, “It sounds like they’re hiding something.” She emphasized that the inquiries were fairly straightforward.
Chairman James Comer noted that Tomasini declined to answer when asked if Biden or anyone in the White House directed the concealment or destruction of classified information, or if there was any collusion regarding Biden’s business dealings.
The committee has summoned these officials who they claim are obstructing the investigation, linking them to a tight-knit group of Biden advisors called “Political Bro.” This group’s decisions were particularly crucial during troubling times related to Biden’s health.
Comer suggested that the silence from these officials indicates an attempt to evade “criminal liability.” He remarked on the alarming nature of Tomasini’s refusal to discuss Biden’s fitness for duty.
The investigation into Biden’s health practices began in June, with allegations that top officials misused autopen signatures to carry out presidential tasks. Former President Trump previously stated that his aides utilized autopen to mask his cognitive decline.
A recent book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompson further discusses how Biden’s staff shielded him from public scrutiny regarding his health issues. It was noted that O’Connor had warned staff about Biden’s potential need for assistance during certain safety concerns.
Indications emerged that by June of 2024, Biden’s condition had deteriorated significantly, which reportedly astonished George Clooney at a fundraising event.
As concerns over Biden’s health grew, questions arose regarding whether he or O’Connor had prior knowledge of his prostate cancer diagnosis, made public in May. These developments continue to fuel speculation about the transparency surrounding his health and decision-making capabilities.
