When the International Criminal Court needed a top adviser to justify a damning arrest warrant against Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, its members turned to Amal Clooney.
The ultra-liberal British human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney was happy to oblige, saying in a statement referring to “Palestine” that both Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar were committing war crimes.
Think about it for a moment.
Hamas has been deliberately killing civilians, and the October 7 massacre that started the war marked the highest single-day death toll since the Holocaust. Israel tries to minimize civilian casualties, at least with warnings and leaflets.
Biden takes on the role of bystander during protests at the border and on campus, ceding power.
Critics can now argue that Israel used excessive force and created a humanitarian crisis and famine in Gaza, but as Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu has said, comparing Israel to a terrorist organization is a “travesty of justice” and a “disgrace.” “It’s like drawing a moral equivalence between President Bush and Osama bin Laden after 9/11, or between FDR and Hitler during World War II.”

It is truly shocking that Amal Clooney advised the ICC that Hamas and Israel are on the same moral footing.
Ironically, George Clooney is a major celebrity face of President Biden’s campaign — he’ll co-host a Biden-Obama fundraiser next month and appear in the campaign’s digital ads — yet his wife has said Biden is, in effect, supporting a war criminal.
Why Biden had a tough debate, Trump agrees, and the risks for both sides
The ICC’s absurd ruling has given Mr. Biden a chance to mend relations with Israel. He immediately called the move “outrageous” and said there was no such thing as Israeli genocide. And he did it in front of the camera. Biden’s only televised comments afterward were in response to a shouted question so terse that reporters couldn’t agree with what he said.
Still, the president’s stance may ease some of the tensions caused by his decision not to supply Israel with 2,000-pound bombs out of concern they might be used in an invasion of the populated city of Rafah. But it didn’t stop Biden from approving $1 billion in military funding for Israel.

The far-left, including Biden’s own party, despises Israel, a hostility that has fueled frequent, violent campus protests that Biden has taken far too long to address.
The self-described pro-Palestinian protesters who occupied buildings and harassed Jewish students essentially support Hamas, which wants to wipe Israel off the map. Israel voluntarily withdrew from Gaza nearly two decades ago and essentially wants to protect its own country, but Netanyahu is adamantly opposed to a two-state solution.

All of this has put Biden in a difficult position: Hard-left liberals are shunned by his support for Israel, and he is often greeted by protesters holding “Genocide Joe” signs. But his expressions of sympathy for the huge death toll and humanitarian needs in Gaza are criticized as not being pro-Israel enough.
Republicans, led by House Speaker Mike Johnson, are pushing for sanctions against the ICC.

This absurd verdict – the head of the Hamas dictatorship and the elected leadership of the world’s only Jewish state, who kidnap civilians from the youngest to the oldest and use their own citizens as human shields. This is why the court’s reputation can be irreparably damaged. .
Meanwhile, Israel sparked a backlash by raiding an AP bureau in the Gaza Strip and taking away camera equipment. “The Associated Press condemns in the strongest terms the actions of the Israeli government in suspending years of live coverage of the situation in Gaza and confiscating AP equipment,” a senior news agency official said.

The reason is that one of the feeds being distributed is from Al Jazeera, which Israelis recently banned as a front for Hamas. The government later returned the AP equipment, citing the need for further investigation into the matter.
And in a concerted move, Norway, Spain and Ireland agreed to recognize the currently fictitious Palestinian state. While this appears to be a reward for Hamas’ brutality, it is also a sign that the international community’s support for Israel is declining.

And that is more of a threat to Israel and its American partners than any crazy move by the ICC.
