Anisimova Prepares for Rematch Against Swiatek at US Open

Amanda Anisimova, who suffered a tough defeat in the Wimbledon final earlier this summer, is now set for a rematch with Iga Swiatek at the US Open. In a striking comeback, Anisimova advanced to the quarterfinals after dominating her previous match 6-0, 6-3 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Earlier in the day, Swiatek also showcased her skills with a smooth victory, defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-1 in the round of 16.

Anisimova, reflecting on the upcoming match, expressed her excitement in an on-court interview. “Who would have thought we’d be here again so soon?” she said. “I feel good. It’s going to be a great match. She’s fantastic on the court, and I hope we both bring our best.” Currently, Anisimova and fourth seed Jessica Pegula are the last two Americans left in the women’s singles draw.

Hailing from Freehold Township in New Jersey, Anisimova’s run to the Wimbledon Finals was quite a highlight for her this year.

The match on Monday night went smoothly for Anisimova. The first set was wrapped up in just 26 minutes, capitalizing on Haddad Maia’s four double faults. Although Haddad Maia fought back in the second set, Anisimova managed to break her serve three more times and maintained a consistent performance overall.

Finishing the match with an impressive count of 27 winners, Anisimova humorously noted her lack of crowd support during the game.

“It’s a big stage, and nerves can kick in,” she acknowledged. “I’ve got to remain mentally strong, especially against someone like Beatriz, who has a tough game. But honestly, I feel free out there and am really enjoying this experience.”

With Coco Gauff eliminated earlier in the day, Swiatek now holds the title of the highest-ranked player remaining in the women’s draw. She hasn’t lost a match since late July and, during her run in Cincinnati, she didn’t drop a single set.

Anisimova will definitely feel the support of the home crowd when she faces Swiatek on Wednesday. If the performance from Monday is any indication, she may well have a chance to deliver a powerful punch in this significant matchup.
