Amazon is joining other big retailers including Target and Walmart in slashing grocery prices by as much as 30% to attract inflation-weary customers.
The company announced it would cut prices on 4,000 items at its online AmazonFresh grocery store and a handful of its brick-and-mortar stores.
Amazon Fresh customers can get discounts on meat, seafood, frozen meals, dairy, cheese, beverages, snacks and pasta, the company announced Friday.
The price cuts will apply to Amazon-owned private label products as well as national brands.
“Increasing weekly deals on thousands of AmazonFresh products and expanding Prime Sale coverage is just one of the ways we continue to invest in competitive pricing and savings for all our customers, both in-store and online,” Claire Peters, worldwide vice president of AmazonFresh, said in a statement.
According to the company, existing Amazon Prime members can enjoy an additional 10% discount on AmazonFresh discounted products.

Target shoppers can expect to see price cuts on items like meat, milk, soda, bread, fruits and vegetables this summer, the retailer announced.
You can also get discounts on essentials like coffee, diapers, paper towels and pet food.
Walmart pledged in March to lower prices as part of a “deflationary environment.”
Big box stores have announced they will slash prices on items like eggs, apples and deli snacks.
Soaring food inflation in recent years hit Americans hard over Memorial Day weekend, with the cost of barbecues rising 10% compared to last year.
Overall, inflation rose 3.4% year-on-year in April, with food prices now 2.2% more expensive than in 2023.
Since January 2021, food prices have increased by more than 21%.
