American Express is rolling out significant changes to its platinum credit card offerings in the near future. According to the company, both the US Consumer and Business Platinum Cards will undergo substantial updates later this year.
Howard Grossfield, an executive at American Express, mentioned that they aim to elevate these cards not just in terms of travel and lifestyle perks, but also in their overall design to better align with the evolving preferences of customers.
American Express is emphasizing improvements in access to airport lounges alongside dining and hotel benefits as part of its plans to refresh these well-known credit cards.
The company has had its consumer platinum cards in the US market since 1984, and they’ve introduced various updates over the years, but this upcoming refresh is set to be the “largest investment ever” made by American Express.
For business platinum cardholders, American Express is promising additional benefits that could help support their business growth in future upgrades.
Interestingly, cardholders already enjoy flexible spending restrictions tailored to their purchasing habits, credit history, and business-related costs. The company continues to adapt these features to enhance overall access and usability.
American Express isn’t the only financial institution revamping its upscale credit offers. Chase, owned by JPMorgan Chase, recently announced enhancements to the rewards structure of its Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card initially launched in 2016. There have also been indications of an upcoming business-oriented version of this card, which has caught the attention of consumers.
Both the American Express Platinum Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card are highly regarded among users. A recent JD Power study highlighted the Chase Sapphire Reserve as ranking third in customer satisfaction among credit cards with annual fees, while the American Express Platinum Card followed closely in fourth place.
