A music executive connected to American Idol was shot alongside her husband in their high-end Los Angeles residence, reportedly after she expressed concerns for her safety, stating she felt “threatened by someone.”
Robin Kay and her spouse, Thomas DeLuca, who were both 70, were allegedly killed last week, following suspicions of a robbery at their Encino home.
Raymond Boudarian, 22, was taken into custody on Tuesday, a day after police discovered the couple’s bodies during welfare checks.
In the weeks leading up to the tragic incident, Kay had been in contact with a private security firm, driven by her worries over personal safety, according to NBC Los Angeles.
“They’re hiring,” noted Chris Herzog, who runs the Beverly Hills bodyguard company they engaged.
It’s unclear if the couple had faced threats at their residence before this incident.
Authorities reported that Boudarian was allegedly attempting to rob Kay’s house on July 10 while they were not there.
He likely entered their home about 30 minutes before the couple returned, leading to his arrest.
Law enforcement attended the scene that afternoon after receiving reports of a robbery but found “no signs of forced entry or trouble.”
Neighbor Amee Faggen remarked, “We didn’t hear anything.”
She added that her tenant had seen someone jumping the fence and called 911, although no new information had surfaced since then.
The couple’s remains were discovered on Monday after officers responded to concerns for their wellbeing.
