Luke Bryan has spoken out about Katy Perry’s recent announcement that she is leaving American Idol.
In a radio program interview,Taste of country night”, the CMT Music Award winner admitted that his fellow judge’s revelations weren’t necessarily a “huge shock” to him.
“I’d heard whispers that she was thinking about it, but it wasn’t a huge shock,” said Bryan, who joined fellow judge Lionel Richie on “Idol” in 2016. She had a moment with Kimmel, and perhaps it was announced that she was done. ”

“My relationship with Katie has been going great and she and I have developed a great friendship and I’ve been able to work with her. I mean, I’ve been there since before her daughter was born, but now… Her daughter is three years old,” he added. .
In February, the “Fireworks” singer officially announced his departure from “Idol” during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“This is probably my last show, my last season of Idol,” Perry said. “I mean, I love ‘Idol’…It connects me to the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel its pulse to my own beat.”

When asked how his fellow judges reacted to the news, Perry replied, “Well, they’ll find out tonight!”
“They know I have something planned this year,” she teased. “So this is going to be a very, very exciting year for all the pop star girls!”
One of the highlights for Brian was seeing Perry “become a mother” [to daughter Daisy Dove] “Throughout this whole process,” he said.
“I mean, I really enjoyed getting to know Katie,” he said. “She knows that whatever her next endeavor is, she can pick up the phone and call me to check in and say, ‘Hi.’ If you have something to do.”

It’s unclear who will replace Perry next season, but Bryan said he’s not thinking about leaving just yet.

“So every year we negotiate how we’re going to do ‘Idol,’ and it’s a one-year commitment,” he said. “It’s not like a five-year contract or anything like that. So when I get into the second half of ‘Idol,’ I start deciding whether to come back or not. That’s how I’ve been doing it for seven years.” ”
