Amorim focuses on Europe as Manchester United falls to defeat against Brentford.

Reuben Amorim’s Focus on Europa League

After suffering a 4-3 defeat to Brentford in their 16th Premier League match of the season, Reuben Amorim remained focused on the Europa League. He mentioned, “I think losing a game is stressful. When you’re fighting for a title, it’s not stressful,” referring to Manchester United needing to maintain a 3-0 advantage against another club as they aim for the Europa League final. In this match, he made eight changes, fielding one of the youngest starting XIs in Premier League history.

He defended his choices, stating, “As a club we need to understand at this moment, we have a great responsibility. We have to prepare our teams for various competitions.”

Despite the extensive rotation, United also lost defender Mattigis Deligto to what seemed to be a serious injury in the first half. Amorim commented, “I don’t know,” regarding the severity of the injury, adding, “We’ll see. I hope that’s not a serious thing. We took a risk with Maguire. We needed players on Thursday, so the show had to go out.”

Even in defeat, Amorim felt that United’s young players should gain valuable experience from the match.

On the other hand, a pleased Thomas Frank celebrated as his team enhanced their chances of European football, moving up to ninth place for the next season. “I think we definitely have momentum,” he noted. “The last 13 games were really good. You can play well, but you need to keep it up. The next game is the most important, and that’s against Ipswich. It’s already a good season.”
