(AFP) – Andrew Tate, a controversial social media figure, and his brother Tristan were apprehended in Miami on Saturday, according to the US Marshals Service. The UK is currently seeking their extradition to address new allegations of rape, sex trafficking, and assault.
Sheriff’s officials confirmed their arrest but mentioned they could not reveal the specific charges, as the arrest warrants remained sealed.
TMZ shared footage showing law enforcement placing the brothers in handcuffs and escorting them to a vehicle. In a video shared on X, Tristan Tate appeared unresponsive when asked if he wanted to comment to onlookers.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that the Tate brothers were arrested by US marshals, as they face various charges in the UK.
British authorities revealed on Sunday that the brothers are facing a total of 59 charges—42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan.
“We have chosen to charge the Tates with additional offenses, including aiding and abetting human trafficking for sexual exploitation, as well as offenses connected to indecent images of children,” stated CPS Special Crimes Unit chief Malcolm McHaffie.
He mentioned that the extradition request has been submitted, prompted by new evidence from Bedfordshire Police, which has increased the total alleged victims in the case to seven.
Earlier this year, authorities in Hertfordshire, North London, indicated they were reopening a probe into rape and sexual assault allegations against Andrew Tate from 2014 to 2015.
They also face distinct rape and human trafficking accusations from another individual and are under investigation by Bedfordshire Police, covering their hometown of Luton, north of London.
In addition to these charges, the brothers are also contending with issues related to tax evasion and money laundering in the UK.
Their attorney, Joseph McBride, asserted in a press statement that the brothers are “innocent.” He expressed confidence that a competent judge would recognize the facts and confront what he labeled an abuse of power, ultimately leading to the brothers’ freedom.
The Tate brothers hold dual British and American citizenship and have been known to vocally support former US President Donald Trump.
In March 2025, Florida authorities initiated a criminal investigation into their activities, though the current status of this inquiry remains unclear.
Andrew Tate is a notable figure within the “manosphere,” a community focused on traditional masculinity, anti-feminism, and self-empowerment. He promotes contentious views to millions on social media, including his 10.8 million followers on X, often entwining themes of alpha male dynamics and misogyny.
The brothers have encountered allegations regarding trafficking minors, engaging in sexual acts with minors, and money laundering in Romania, where they have recently resided.
