Andrew Garfield And Florence Pugh Got So Hot And Heavy During Filming They Didn’t Realize The Scene Had Cut

Andrew Garfield admitted he got so caught up in a steamy love scene with Florence Pugh that they kept going well after the director yelled “cut.”

The famous actor appeared at the 92nd Street Y on Friday to promote “We Live in Time,” when he spilled the beans on the hot and heavy scene. Garfield said he and Pugh were acting out a “very intimate, passionate sex scene,” and they were so deeply involved in one another that they didn’t even realize the scene had been cut, so they just kept on going.

The actor said the love scene was being filmed on a “closed set,” and it quickly turned into an awkward experience when he realized he and Pugh were going at it well after the scene had finished shooting.

Garfield said this all unfolded during the first take of filming and said the only people on-set aside from himself were Pugh, the camera operator and the boom operator. The director of the film, John Crowley, was in the room next to the one they were filming in.

“The scene becomes passionate, as we choreographed it,” the actor said. “And we get into it, as it were, and we go a little further than we were meant to just because we never heard ‘cut.’”

Garfield said his sense of awareness kicked in during the love scene, but it took a while for him to realize the sexy scene had gone well beyond the scope of the film.

“I feel like we were both kind of telepathically saying to each other, ‘This definitely feels like a longer take,’” he recalled.

He admitted that he and Pugh realized they were over-acting when they noticed the crew members had their backs to them and were facing a wall in an effort to give them privacy.

In spite of the embarrassing moment, Garfield said he and Pugh were “feeling safe” in their filming environment, which played a part in that feeling of “we’ll let this progress and we’ll just carry on.” (RELATED: ‘Very Exposed’: Nicole Kidman Reveals Self-Doubt After Filming Intense Sex Scenes)
