“If you want to run for president, now is the time. In this time of need, only one person has decided to put his country above his professional aspirations,” Yang said. “That is the person I am proudly endorsing tonight as the next President of the United States…Dean Phillips.”
Yang told the Dartmouth audience that he was in New Hampshire four years ago campaigning for President Biden, but noted that the last four years have not been great.
He supported Phillips, saying he might not have been with them Thursday night if they had been great.
“He's a substantive, accomplished president. I campaigned for him in 2020. I supported him,” Yang said of Biden. “He's a good man, a true public servant, a great American. He was the right candidate four years ago. He's not the right candidate in 2024.”

The former presidential candidate said during Biden's 2020 campaign that he was running to serve as a bridge to the next generation.

“Basically, you can calculate his 2020 numbers and subtract eight from it. And that's where he is right now,” Yang said, noting that he is a “mathematician.” He reminded those in attendance.

He said campaigning is tough, especially for the 81-year-old president, because of the travel, rallies, meeting new voters and friendly interviews.
“Everything is going to be tougher for Joe Biden this cycle than it needs to be for someone who is running against Donald Trump,” Yang said. “…poll after poll shows Joe Biden losing by 2, 3, 4 points to Donald Trump in battleground state after battleground state. The same polls also show that Donald Trump is losing by 2, 3, 4 points. You know you're losing to a Democrat, and all of a sudden you put another Democrat in there.'' People are like, “Wait, I don't like Trump. Who is this other guy?''
Yang went on to say that while Biden is a great leader, he should not run for re-election in 2024. Yang said many Democrats feel the same way, but no one is stepping up, he said.

“The concept of challenging Joe Biden, a culture of conformity and careerism that would lead us back to Trump again, is something that so many of us don't understand.” said Mr. Yang. ”[Dean Phillips] We are not beholden to the special interests that have grown to dominate politics. He is the man of this moment. He is the person most Americans, and of course the independents who decide elections, actually want in a candidate. And best of all, he will win. ”
