Andy Dick Refuses Rehab After Overdose Incident

Comedian Andy Dick, 59, has declined to enter rehab following a concerning overdose incident in Los Angeles earlier this week. He reportedly experienced an apparent overdose while on the streets of his neighborhood on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

When asked about seeking professional help, Dick seemed taken aback but quipped, “When you say ‘professional’, should I call Dr. Drew again?” That was a nod to his past work with the addiction specialist.

During the conversation, he was evasive when further questioned about needing help, responding, “Do I need help? Do we all need help? Do you need help too?” Despite inquiries about his current state, he confidently stated, “I love it.” When pressed about going to a rehab facility, he firmly said, “No, no.”

His two friends, who were present during the interview, mentioned they had attempted to get him into a rehab facility but without success. Dick showed visible discomfort regarding the topic and reiterated, “I don’t want to go to rehab.” He went on to claim he is already undergoing rehabilitation, though it’s unclear what that means in practice.

On December 9, a disturbing video surfaced showing Dick sitting on a street, with his glasses falling at his feet. A friend attempted to wake him up, but he appeared to collapse and lose consciousness. People nearby administered Narcan, a nasal spray used for overdose situations. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that paramedics were called, but Dick did not go to the hospital.

In media remarks, Dick detailed that on the day of his suspected overdose, he had been out socializing but ended up trying crack cocaine from a stranger. “I wanted to see what he was doing,” he remarked, adding, “And I don’t mind having a little crack once in a while.”

This is not Dick’s first brush with addiction. He faced significant legal troubles back in 1999 after crashing his car into a utility pole in Los Angeles, leading to charges including DUI and possession of cocaine. Those charges were ultimately dismissed after he completed a drug treatment program.

Since then, Dick has been arrested multiple times and was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault in 2022, stemming from an incident with an Uber driver in 2018. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and required to register as a sex offender.

FOX News Digital has attempted to reach Dick for further comments.
