Andy Dick’s Drug Overdose Incident
Andy Dick shared in a phone conversation that he came close to losing his life after collapsing on a street in Hollywood due to drug use.
The comedian, who has a history of legal issues, wants to clarify past remarks. He attributed his fall to crack cocaine, which he says led him to tumble down concrete stairs near a liquor store.
Dick mentioned that paramedics informed a friend that he likely had been using fentanyl. “It must be fentanyl. That’s the only thing that can take you out so fast,” he reflected.
Just before the incident, Dick said he “sneaked away” to meet a stranger for a drug fix. “I ran away from friends to chat with a guy who waved. I figured, ‘He must have something good,’ and, well, I do like drugs,” he explained, a hint of regret in his voice. “I don’t really want to think about exactly what happened; I just fell.”
In a moment that shocked onlookers, Dick’s complexion turned blue while he sat outside the liquor store, before he fell forward. His friend, Sean Harrell, recalled how they quickly turned him onto his back.
Harrell, a security guard at the area, watched as the situation unfolded. Although the entire episode lasted roughly ten minutes, Dick wasn’t transported to a hospital.
“I genuinely thought he was dead. They sprayed him with Narcan, gave him chest compressions, trying to revive him since he was unresponsive,” Harrell described, noting that multiple doses were needed.
Regarding his earlier comments about crack cocaine, Dick later clarified they were in jest. “I sometimes joked about it, saying that a little crack wouldn’t hurt anyone, but it almost took my life, you know?” he said, reflecting on the distress of that night.
