Andy Reid Comments on Travis Kelce’s Emotional Outburst
Andy Reid didn’t seem too concerned about Travis Kelce’s recent sideline outburst.
After the Chiefs secured their first win of the season with a 22-9 score against the Giants on Sunday night, Reid spoke to reporters. The two had a bit of a surprise moment during the first half, with Reid even making contact with Kelce’s left shoulder.
“I appreciate Travis’ passion,” Reid said. “I’m okay with it. It wasn’t quite right for that moment—I think he knows when to dial back and when to turn it up.”
“That’s something I admire about him. He’s fully invested. Sometimes I have to play the role of a disciplinarian since he’s such an emotional player,” Reid added.
During a tense moment in the second quarter—Kansas City leading 6-0—the broadcast captured the exchange between Reid, who is 67, and Kelce, who is 35. Reid noted, “We need the energy.”
Mike Tirico, a commentator, remarked, “I could sense the frustration on both sides, especially when it got heated.”
Kelce, who made a 26-yard reception during this week’s game, was reportedly missing from the locker room afterward.
This latest incident follows a prior verbal outburst from Kelce during the Chiefs’ previous defeat against Philadelphia, where he was heard expressing his frustration with the team’s situation.
Now sitting at a 1-2 record after the victory over the Giants, Kansas City will face the Ravens next Sunday. It remains unclear if Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, will attend; she wasn’t present for the game at MetLife Stadium.
