Andy Reid says Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney injury not ‘made up’

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid dismissed the idea that the team is lying about receiver Kadarius Toney’s injury status.

Toney, a controversial former Giants first-round draft pick, was ruled out of the Chiefs’ AFC Championship game over the Ravens due to a hip injury and personal reasons.

But then Toney posted an expletive-filled rant on his Instagram Sunday morning, suggesting he was healthy and the Chiefs were not telling him the truth about his availability.

“Yeah, well, obviously he was on the injury report,” Reid said of the suggestion Monday. “So that part is definitely not a myth. But he’s been through some things and he’ll be back again.” [at practice]”

Tony’s daughter was also born, but he didn’t mention it in the video.

“You guys read this damn article? You wouldn’t believe it, I have no idea,” Tony said in the video. “Humans, it was never like that to do anything but that cap.

“I’m not hurt. Nothing like that. Save that. Sk, I’m also dk. I’m not hurt. None of that. From my hip to my ankle, from there to there.”

Reed said Monday he had not yet seen the video.

“I’ve never actually seen it,” Reed said. “I heard people talking about it. But certainly he’ll be back and we’ll see how he’s doing.”

It was no surprise that Tony was left out.

He last played in Week 15, when he dropped a pass that led to an interception in the Chiefs’ 27-17 win over the Patriots.

Just a week ago, Toney’s offside penalty made headlines and the Chiefs’ 20-17 loss to the Bills was broadcast on national television.

His career with both the Giants and Chiefs has been marred by repeated injuries and off-field issues.

Toney caught 27 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown during this year’s regular season.
