The Angel family of Rachel Morin, the 37-year-old mother of five who was killed by illegal immigrant MS-13 gang members, say President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have shown a lack of compassion throughout the tragedy.
“The Morin family is deeply disappointed by the lack of recognition and compassion from President Biden and his administration,” said Angell family attorney Randolph Rice. said In a statement:
This silence is deafening and sends a disturbing message that the safety and well-being of the American people is not being prioritized. This indifference is a reminder of the Biden administration’s apparent disregard for the victims of preventable crimes committed by illegal immigrants. The Morin family deserves recognition and action from our leaders to ensure a tragedy like this never happens again. [Emphasis added]
Meanwhile, Maureen's brother spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in July at the invitation of former President Donald Trump, and Maureen's mother recently appeared with Trump at a campaign press conference at the US-Mexico border.
On August 5, 2023, Maureen was walking on the Mama & Papa Heritage Trail in Harford County, Maryland. When she didn't return home, her boyfriend, Richard Tobin, reported her missing. The next day, Maureen's body was found on the side of the trail.
On June 15, 2024, Tulsa police arrested Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, 23, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador with ties to the MS-13 gang, in connection with Morin's murder.
Prosecutors allege that Martinez-Hernandez raped, beat and strangled Morin in what they call the most horrific case in Harford County history. Martinez-Hernandez was indicted in July on charges of first- and second-degree murder, rape, sexual assault and kidnapping.
Martinez-Hernandez, who is in police custody, is scheduled to stand trial in October.
Martinez Hernandez is one of more than 2 million illegal immigrant fugitives who have successfully crossed the border under Biden and Harris' watch.
Border Patrol agents arrested Martinez-Hernandez three times in 2023 — twice in January in New Mexico and Texas, and once in February in New Mexico. Each time, he was deported back to Mexico.
Shortly after his last deportation to Mexico, Martinez-Hernandez crossed the border into California, where he allegedly assaulted a woman and her child, then traveled to Maryland, where he is accused of raping and murdering Morin.
Before crossing the border, Martinez Hernandez had been accused of murdering a woman in his native El Salvador who had left a bar with his victim, whose body was found days later.
