Angel Reese Joins Victoria’s Secret as First Professional Athlete Angel

WNBA All-Star Angel Reese has taken on a new role, becoming the first professional athlete to be named an Angel by Victoria’s Secret.

On Thursday, the Chicago Sky forward announced that she would participate in the brand’s fashion show set for October 15th in New York City.

In her debut video presentation, Reese dons a black bra and matching lace underwear paired with white angel wings.

Additionally, she showcases the brand’s iconic striped pink robe along with open-toed black high heels.

The video poses a question: “Is it height? Is it hustle? Is it wingspan?” before welcoming her with the words, “Welcome, Angel.”

Reese shared a behind-the-scenes photo from a Victoria’s Secret shoot that took place on a merry-go-round, describing it as a step toward her dreams. “I’ve finally grown my wings,” she wrote. “It’s my first time walking the Victoria’s Secret 2025 Runway Show and I feel destined. Wings on and heels ready…catch me on the runway!”

Reese expressed her joy upon receiving the news, saying, “I literally couldn’t stop smiling! It’s such a surreal, full-circle moment.” Just a year ago, she was an audience member, inspired by the powerful women walking the runway, and now, she would be among them as an Angel.

In an Instagram Story from last November, she had shared her aspirations about performing at the VS fashion show, highlighting her dreams and ambitions coming to fruition.

The upcoming show will feature performances from Grammy-winning artist Karol G, hip-hop legend Missy Elliott, pop star Madison Beer, and K-pop group TWICE.

The announcement follows Reese being named as Juicy Couture’s new global ambassador and creative collaborator earlier this week, and it also coincides with the launch of her first signature shoe with Reebok, the Angel Wreath 1.

Meanwhile, Reese has been the subject of trade rumors amidst a strained relationship with the Sky. She missed the last three games of the season due to a persistent back injury and was also suspended for a half-game due to comments made during a loss against the Aces on September 7.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese stated her commitment to elevate the team, saying, “We’re not going to be satisfied with the same performance we had this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s non-negotiable for me.”

This season, she led the WNBA with an impressive average of 12.6 rebounds per game for the second consecutive year.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be streamed live at 7pm ET on Prime Video, as well as on the brand’s YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram platforms.
