Angel Reese continues to be engaged in the ongoing situation with Caitlyn Clark.
On Tuesday, a TikTok video was shared that featured a screenshot of a comment on X mocking Clark as “white gyal running away from fade.” This was in reference to a confrontation during Chicago’s recent game against Clark’s team.
An unfortunate incident also occurred where a security guard in Indiana was penalized for pushing Reese.
The WNBA is looking into hostile remarks made towards Reese during a game at Gainbridge Field House, where tensions between the former college rivals have often made headlines.
“The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hatred, and discrimination in any form. Such behaviors have no place in our league or society,” the league stated on Sunday. “We’re aware of the allegations and are investigating.”
On Monday, Reese posted a TikTok video in which one user suggested that the rivalry between Reese and Clark may no longer be valid.
“The issue is that when Angel Reese steps into the Indiana Fever Arena, she is not safe. It’s because of the racist behaviors and threats aimed at her.”
“You all knew this would happen. You knew the environment wouldn’t be safe for her,” Reese expressed.
The former LSU star spoke on the league’s response to these situations on Tuesday.
“There’s no room for that in the league,” she said. “I think the WNBA, along with our team and organization, understands that this is vital.”
She continued, “Everyone in this league wants to be treated with respect, come to work, enjoy themselves, and have a positive environment.”
Reese’s sentiments were echoed by Clark the day prior.
“We don’t welcome that in our game or in society,” she told reporters. “We hope that everyone—whether a player or a fan—has a wonderful experience at the arena. We appreciate the league for handling these matters, as the Fever organization has been proactive since the beginning.”
“When you conduct your investigations, you should let them handle it and take necessary actions if required.”
