Angel Reese Embraces New Term “Mebounds”
Angel Reese is transforming negative comments into something positive. She’s known for her rebounding skills, and while she was a standout last season, Aja Wilson ended up breaking the single-season rebound record before injuries sidelined her. A good chunk of Reese’s rebounds, though, come from her own missed shots, which is interesting to consider.
This has inspired TikTok users to coin the term “Mebounds,” and Reese has decided to capitalize on it. She has filed a trademark application for “Mebounds” covering merchandise like hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. In a recent TikTok, she acknowledged those who contributed to the idea, expressing her appreciation.
Reese humorously remarked, “Everyone who came up with the idea of ‘Mebound’ ate it,” showcasing her lighthearted approach to the situation.
In a display of her skills, Reese recently recorded five offensive rebounds in just 19 seconds, four of which were from her own shots. Currently, she leads the WNBA with an average of 11.9 rebounds per game, with about 4.8 being offensive rebounds. That’s impressive! She’s shooting at a 35.7% rate from the field and ranks third in defensive rebounds per game at 7.1.
Adding to her accomplishments, the 23-year-old also achieved her first triple-double recently, tallying 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists—definitely a notable feat!
Despite these achievements, Reese’s team, Chicago Sky, is having a tough season, holding a record of 3-7. It’s clear there’s a lot going on, and while the season isn’t what they hoped for, Reese’s personal performance is certainly shining.
