Angelina Jolie Voices Concern on U.S. Politics at Film Festival

During the promotion of her latest film, “Couture,” at the 2025 San Sebastian International Film Festival, Angelina Jolie expressed her thoughts on the current political landscape in the United States.

“I have to say I love my country, but at this point I don’t recognize my country,” she shared with reporters at a press conference on Sunday.

“I’ve always lived internationally. My family is international,” she added, highlighting her global perspective.

Jolie, who is 50, remarked, “My life, my worldview is equal and United.” She expressed concern about any environment that “divides or limits personal expression or freedom,” deeming it quite dangerous.

The actress further noted, “I think these are very serious times, so you have to be careful not to casually say things.” She emphasized her cautiousness during the press conference, stating, “But these are very intense times,” and lightly reflecting on her earlier comments.

On a different note, recent events in the media drew attention as Jimmy Kimmel’s show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, was indefinitely pulled off the air by ABC following his remarks about the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. Kirk was tragically shot while attending an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kimmel criticized what he referred to as “Magagang” for attempting to shift the blame regarding the incident.

Previously, Kimmel had taken to social media to emphasize the severity of gun violence, suggesting it should not be met with anger but rather with concern. He expressed condolences, stating, “On behalf of my family, we send love to Kirks and to all the children, parents, and innocent people who fall victim to meaningless gun violence.”

Reportedly, for Kimmel to return to his show, he would need to apologize and make a donation to Turning Point USA, the organization associated with Kirk’s family. It seems his suspension has prompted discussions among other media figures, including the hosts of “The View,” who have tried to navigate the complex news landscape without mentioning certain controversial topics.
