Angie Nixon's Campaign Manager Supported Reparations and Ending ICE

Florida Democrat Socialist Senate Candidate’s Controversial Staff Choices

Angie Nixon, a Democratic Socialist running for the U.S. Senate in Florida, has made headlines this year. She advocates for the defunding and abolishment of ICE and has described Republicans as “killing people.” Her campaign team appears to share her far-left ideology, raising eyebrows and questions about her platform.

Nixon’s campaign manager, Corryn Freeman, has been with her since May 2026 and has earned over $23,000. In various social media posts, Freeman openly expressed support for the unrest during the George Floyd protests, advocated for police defunding, and called for the dismantling of ICE. She has also characterized American policing as having “white supremacist and anti-black roots” and has spoken in favor of substantial reparations.

Another notable adviser, Eunic Epstein-Ortiz, also serves as a spokesperson for the No Kings Organization. Epstein-Ortiz is a strong defender of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and has criticized country music for its perceived racism. Her views on LGBTQ+ issues are particularly strong, insisting that “there is no LGBTQ+ pride without drag queens. Period.”

Additionally, Matthew Grocholske, a Central Florida organizer for Nixon, has stirred controversy with statements against Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, calling him “weak” for not supporting the abolishment of ICE. Grocholske has labeled America a “genocidal regime” and critiqued efforts to exclude transgender athletes from female sports as “disgusting.”

Concerns about Nixon’s campaign have intensified following the statements of her former social media director, Sara Mahmoud. Mahmoud attracted attention for wishing death upon Zionists and expressing support for Hamas in the wake of the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. Her inflammatory language and ideas, which have circulated across multiple platforms, included statements like, “Can Zionists die already?”

Mahmoud’s earlier social media activity has also come under scrutiny. She praised “freedom fighters” from Hamas on significant dates, signifying her alignment with the organization’s ideals. At one point, she shared a post asserting that “Palestine is the land of the Arab Palestinian people,” along with hashtags celebrating Hamas.

Her archived comments often directed hostility towards Jewish individuals, particularly those with ties to Israel—a fact that has drawn sharp criticism and alarm from various quarters following the exposure of her posts.
