Anne Hathaway’s Loyalty to the Knicks Stands Strong
Anne Hathaway showcased her unwavering support for the New York Knicks recently.
During her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday, she expressed that she would choose another Knicks championship over winning a second Academy Award. This revelation came while participating in a fun game called “Best Thing Ever,” where she had to decide between two options, contemplating which to keep and which to dismiss forever.
In the game, Fallon presented her with one option labeled “Another Oscar Win” and another titled “Another Knicks Championship.” Without a moment’s hesitation, Hathaway chose to set aside the Oscar card, opting for her team instead. The audience, gathered in Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, erupted with applause and cheers in support of Hathaway’s decision.
“The way my nervous system is reacting to that choice is really intense,” she laughed, clearly feeling the weight of her preference.
This passion comes as the Knicks celebrate their first championship in 53 years after defeating the Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals by winning four out of five games.
Additionally, Hathaway previously won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 for her role as Fantine in “Les Misérables.”
Earlier in the show, Fallon surprised Hathaway with a signed jersey from Knicks star OG Anunoby. Her excitement was palpable: “Are you serious? Oh my god!” she exclaimed before putting on the jersey.
The Knicks even sent a basket of gifts for her baby, which included a card that said, “All my best,” signed by Anunoby. “I’m so excited about my jersey,” she shared, her enthusiasm shining through.
Back in April, Hathaway had mentioned to Fallon that she considered wearing an Anunoby jersey during an earlier appearance because she wanted her team to know she was rooting for them at the games.
Interestingly, the very next night, Anunoby delivered an impressive performance, scoring 29 points in a historic playoff victory over the Hawks that clinched the series for the Knicks.
Fans even credited Hathaway with being a good luck charm for the team, a sentiment rooted in her past experience when Anunoby nearly collided with her and her son while they were at a game in 2024.
