Michigan Wolverines Fall to Oklahoma Sooners

The Michigan Wolverines faced defeat against the Oklahoma Sooners with a final score of 24-13 on Saturday night.

Commentators Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstriet were on the call for the game. In the second quarter, Michigan kicker Dominique Zvada aimed to narrow Oklahoma’s seven-point lead with a field goal attempt.

Fowler highlighted Zvada’s strength and accuracy, noting he had previously scored on 33 out of 33 attempts within 40 yards. This specific attempt was from 32 yards. He said, “Well, Dominik Zvada usually scores points when they get out there to kick a field goal. He’s a nationwide kicker. He bombs easily from 50 plus. This is a 32-yard chip shot to get a Wolverine on the board.” Unfortunately, Zvada’s attempt veered left.

It was a challenging evening for Michigan. They struggled to overcome the early deficit, as Oklahoma jumped to a 14-0 lead and maintained control throughout the game.

Quarterback John Mater had an impressive performance for the Sooners, completing 34 of 21 passes for 270 yards, accompanied by a touchdown pass and an interception. He also contributed on the ground with 74 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile, wide receiver Deion Burks made seven catches, gaining 101 yards and scoring a touchdown.

Michigan’s quarterback, Blythe Underwood, faced a strong Oklahoma defense, finishing 24 of 142 yards with limited effectiveness. He did manage a notable 75-yard touchdown run in the second half, but it wasn’t sufficient for a comeback.

With this victory, Oklahoma improved to 2-0 for the season while Michigan fell to 1-1.
