Another television personality is departing from a Nexstar-owned news station in Indiana, a station recently shaken by a scandal involving two meteorologists whose notably close relationship has been described as “creepy” by their colleagues. The latest anchor to announce her exit is Shelby Reilly, who is married to a former coworker.
Reilly, who co-hosts and produces WTWO’s “Good Day Live” in Terre Haute, revealed she is leaving the station next month. Industry newsletter FTVLive was the first to report this, mentioning her marriage to former station anchor Zeke Torres.
In a social media announcement, Reilly reflected on her journey, saying, “For a long time, I thought I would do this forever. But somewhere along the way, my dreams changed.”
The couple’s workplace romance has drawn some light-hearted commentary, with Reilly joking, “Zeke and I became HR’s biggest nightmare.”
According to their wedding website, Reilly and Torres met in 2021 when she joined WTWO, where Torres was already working.
Their romantic relationship began after a birthday celebration for a coworker. They are set to tie the knot in February 2027 in Marshall, Illinois.
This latest exit adds to the ongoing turmoil at the Nexstar station, which has seen controversial departures of meteorologists Alex Kerkhove and Jesse Walker, whose closeness was scrutinized by fellow employees.
Reilly, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019, has held various roles at WTWO, including reporter, morning anchor, and weather fill-in.
Her fiancé, who previously worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at WTWO, left television news for a role in communications at Indiana State University. His current employment status is somewhat unclear, though he was appointed associate director of communications at the university in April 2023.
Their relationship has sparked comparisons to the earlier controversies involving Walker, WTWO’s longtime chief meteorologist, and Kerkhove, who joined the station in 2025 following her graduation from Purdue University.
Kerkhove claimed she was fired in June after roughly a year at WTWO, although Nexstar stated that it did not terminate her employment.
After her departure, Kerkhove alleged that management monitored her interactions with Walker, limiting their conversations to only 15 to 20 minutes during work hours, citing security cameras. Insiders revealed that Walker had expressed a significant interest in Kerkhove prior to her employment, and their bond intensified after she joined WTWO.
Though some described their connection as “very creepy,” there’s no definitive evidence of a romantic relationship, with both parties characterizing their bond as mentorship and friendship.
Walker publicly supported Kerkhove after her exit, praising her skills and announcing plans to leave WTWO himself to create a weather company with her. However, Nexstar ended his tenure abruptly, preventing him from having a chance to say goodbye to viewers.
“Today they walked you out the door and didn’t let you say goodbye,” Kerkhove expressed in a social media post, referring to Walker as her “station dad” and thanking him for his support.
Additionally, FTVLive reported that a longtime photographer at the station has also resigned, contributing to the growing list of departures.
As for Reilly, she plans to officially sign off at the end of next month but has not disclosed her future career plans. The Post has reached out for comments from Reilly, Torres, and Nexstar.
