Anthony Knox wins NJ regional wrestling tournament after fight ban gets lifted

Anthony Knox couldn't stop on the wrestling mat and was not found after that.

Knox, who is keeping an eye on the fourth New Jersey High School Wrestling Championship after a judge overturned a ban issued by the state's governing body, won the Region 7 title on Saturday in the 126-pound weight class.

After being bound for Star Cornell University at St. John Vianney High School, he quickly refused an interview request, with no show for medal podiums and Champions photos. According to NJ.com.

Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Bartels issued a temporary restraining order on Friday.

Knox's bid appeared to have been completed after being disqualified by the Scholastic Athletic Association of New Jersey for his role in the fight that took place in the stands in which his father was involved in one of St. John Vianney's district matches. The district is the front round of the area.

Both the father and son were filmed in handcuffs away from the battle scene.

However, Knox's lawyers filed a lawsuit challenging the NJSIAA definition of “leaving the bench area during an argument” in the disqualification decision.

If nothing changes in court before that — and the NJSIAA is reissuing disqualifications and asking for a stay to ensure that its authority will not be castrated in the future — Knox will become a big favorite for winning his fourth state title when the state's Championship Bracket performs in Atlantic City from Thursday through Saturday.
