Anthropic’s Commitment to Public Benefit Fund
Artificial intelligence leader Anthropic has been rather quiet about the possibility of distributing shares from a fund it has formed directly to American citizens.
The company revealed on Sunday a plan to allocate 5% of its shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund. This fund could potentially support donations to nonprofit organizations or make direct distributions to targeted groups.
“We’re setting aside a portion of Anthropic’s shares for the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, which is a new wholly owned entity focused solely on the public benefit. It will kick off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value from a set baseline, we may contribute up to an additional 2%, dependent on our board’s decision. Overall, this indicates that around 20% of Anthropic’s shares will be dedicated to the public good,” the company announced in a post on X.
Fox News Digital inquired whether Anthropic plans to allocate any shares to American families or children. Unfortunately, the company did not respond to multiple requests for clarification on Monday.
In reaction to Anthropic’s announcement regarding its fund on X, Elon Musk suggested that the AI company should take a more straightforward approach. “I recommend giving the shares directly to the public,” Musk wrote.
Musk also made a promise to distribute one SpaceX share to every child in America next year, although the specifics of how this would happen have yet to be clarified. “Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many,” he stated in a post on X.
Meanwhile, President Trump expressed gratitude towards Musk for his commitment. “A BIG THANK YOU to our legendary friend, Elon Musk, for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through TRUMP ACCOUNTS!” Trump posted on Truth Social. He described this initiative as exactly what was envisioned when TRUMP ACCOUNTS were created—bringing together the private sector and influential figures like Musk to invest in children, who he considers America’s greatest asset.
