Anti-DOGE protesters disrupt House GOP town hall targeted by Democratic groups

House Republican Town Hall began in chaos Tuesday night as angry protesters shaking over an hour in a small Midwest city, accusing Republicans of trying to sabotage important government programs.

R-Neb. Rep. Mike Flood was the only House GOP MP to establish a face-to-face town hall this week during the council's break.

The event began with a controversial note a few minutes after the opening prayer. The moderator's first audience question accused President Donald Trump of not supporting “the rule of law.” The crowd repeatedly booed mentions of Elon Musk or the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

At one point, we could hear protesters screaming “tax the rich.”

Nebraska Democratic Chairman Jane Fleming Cleeve posted to X, showing how many people headed to Flood's City Hall just minutes after it began. She said that state Democrat operatives are on the scene if they need action handouts on what they can do beyond City Hall!

Meanwhile, progressive groups Moveon and Indivisible promoted a “volunteer-led event” entitled “Musk or Us: Demand Mike Flood Back!”

The listed times and locations coincided with Flood's Tuesday night town hall. The event lasted about an hour and a half, with lawmakers barely having resigned as people asked him questions and the crowd jealoused him during the answers.

In an open mic at the event, the woman said her wife from the flood had fought breast cancer and that her sister had died of illness.

“Personally, I want to know how you're making that decision a stomach,” she asked as the crowd applauded.

Flood said he supports funding for medical research and is unaware of such a suspension, but Doge said it was reviewing funding on a case-by-case basis as part of its mission to reduce national debt. But even when Musks and Doges caused crowds inside the Columbus High School auditorium, the flood had to repeat several times at the point as protesters grew louder.

“How can I resist a balanced budget?” An angry flood asked the crowd.

After the event, Fox News Digital observed discussions on message board site Reddit, urging people to protest the flood. One user posted it on a Nebraska-centric bulletin board. “We beg district 1 residents to drive and come out to hear their voices.”

In response to another commenter who said the event was scheduled to last for an hour, the same first user replied, “It's an hour's worth of booing his stupid idea of getting support for him and his precious hometown.”

In another thread about the town hall, another user posted, “S —-the man isn't even in my district, but I'm thinking about going there.”

Flood's decision to hold town halls in person is clearly opposed to the House Republican leader's guidance to refrain from such in-person events given the surge in protest.

Most House Republicans have moved to hosting teletown halls.

Some cite staff safety issues, and MOBs for in-person component events boast that they are sometimes loud.

Meanwhile, the left-wing group that urged people to protest people at GOP Town Halls is now using changes to its strategy, urging activists to hold mock town halls in empty chairs representing lawmakers who are sometimes not invited.

Prominent Democrats like Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz and New York State Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also seized vacuums to host their own events in the Republican district.
