On Wednesday, police announced that an anti-Israel agitator who threatened a Jewish man while wearing a Hezbollah T-shirt and mask on a Manhattan train has been charged with a hate crime.
Christopher Fusary, 37, was charged with attempted hate crime and aggravated harassment after allegedly making an anti-Semitic rant against White Plains attorney Joshua Savitt on June 10.
The disturbing collision occurred when Savitt, 35, was on his way home after attending an exhibition in Manhattan honoring the victims of the Oct. 7 Nova Music Festival attack, when two people were killed near Union Square. It happened when I noticed that someone was destroying a train car.
He is said to have spray-painted the words “Liberate Gaza” on it and asked Savit to take a photo.
Police said at the time that the vandals confronted him and called him a “Zionist.”
In an exclusive interview with the Post after the attack, Savit said Fusari taunted him while requesting that he not take photos.
“Brother, if you only knew who I was,” Fusari was furious, Savit said.
“He said something to the effect of, 'We're going to find you, we're going to get you,'” Savitt said of the hateful display that occurred after anti-Israel demonstrators descended outside the exhibit. he said.
Savitt filed a police report after the Post exposed Fusary as a bicoastal agitator who still lives with his parents in a $1.8 million home in California.
Mr Hussari, who has been arrested in a series of protests, defended himself in an interview and claimed Mr Savit was the perpetrator.
“The man who stopped me and my friends is a terrorist, and he lies and says that I made the firing gesture,” Fusari said in late June.
“I raised my hand because he was following us and harassing us. I caught him.”
Mr. Fusary was extradited from California to face charges.
