A 22-year-old woman, believed to be an antifa supporter, has been arrested on federal charges for allegedly attempting to set fire to the Texas Republican Party headquarters. Grace Carroll Brown was accused of breaking a window at the Comal County Republican Party’s office in New Braunfels, Texas, on January 14.
According to court submissions, Brown threw her backpack through the window and tried to get inside but was unsuccessful. After that, she reportedly lit a rolled-up magazine and threw it into the building.
The indictment claims she left behind a note stating, “Report. We burned down the Nazi party’s NB office. Fuck you, DJT,” which likely refers to former President Donald Trump. The note further included derogatory remarks about ICE and a declaration of “Freedom or death.”
Moreover, it featured three arrows—a symbol the indictment associates with the anarchist group Antifa. Investigators found ethanol, gasoline, matches, and a lighter in Brown’s bag.
She faces charges related to attempted damage by fire and malicious mischief, with the Comal County Republican Party headquarters identified as a victim, along with two other businesses located in the same building.
Authorities allege Brown harbored hostility towards the Republican Party, ICE, Trump, and the government’s stance on immigration issues, labeling them as “enemies of the U.S. Constitution.”
Brown was apprehended on January 22, and if convicted, she could face a federal prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years.
The Comal County Republican Party and Brown’s attorney have not commented on the situation.
