New York – In a tragic incident earlier this week, antipsychotic medications and a note addressed to his parents were discovered in the apartment of a shooter who took multiple lives during a mass shooting in Manhattan.
Detectives executed a search of the studio apartment belonging to Shane Tamura in Las Vegas, uncovering various medications, 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a tripod for the rifle used in the attack, and an empty box that previously contained revolvers.
Among the items recovered were several prescription bottles, including antipsychotics, antiepileptics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the NYPD.
Tamura, who was 27, had left a note for his parents expressing love and remorse, stating, “I love you, mom. I’m sorry.”
The suicide note, which was also found at the scene, mentioned a man named Rick, identified as the supervisor of Tamura while he worked as a security guard at Horseshoe Las Vegas. The note included an apology directed at Rick.
Rick reportedly sold the AR-15 assault rifle used in the shooting to Tamura for $1,400, along with the BMW that Tamura drove from Nevada to New York City. However, Rick, whose last name hasn’t been disclosed, has not faced any charges.
Four individuals lost their lives during the shooting that occurred around 7 PM on Monday in the lobby and on the 33rd floor of a high-rise building on Park Avenue, which is home to the NFL, Blackstone, and Rudin management offices.
Among the victims were Wesley Repatner, a Blackstone executive, and security guards Aland Etienne and Julia Hyman. Additionally, NFL employee Craig Clementi was injured in the incident, as stated by Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Tamura, a former high school football player from Las Vegas, was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Authorities noted that he left behind three different suicide notes expressing his grievances about “the NFL” and his struggles with brain damage.
One of these handwritten notes, spread across three pages, was found folded inside Tamura’s wallet. It was written on planner-style paper featuring sections labeled “My Daily Affirmation” and other headings like “plans, pauses, reflections, prosperity.”
