Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y., also known as AOC) has “spoken out the quiet part” in the eyes of former President Donald Trump and his supporters. That means a business records trial sparked by Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s lawsuit against him is keeping him away from his campaign.
After the Trump campaign announced this week that Trump would hold an event in the South Bronx on Thursday night, Ocasio-Cortez told reporters she was holding the event because she is being held in New York because of her court case.

“And by the way, he’s doing it in the South Bronx, not to make a claim, but because he has a court system and the guy is essentially wearing a legal version of an ankle bracelet and can’t leave the five boroughs and has to appear in court all the time. So this is really an embarrassment for him,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Her comments backed up Trump’s repeated claims that the charges filed against him were an attempt to tie him up in court and keep him away from an election trial, and to undermine the 2024 presidential election.
