Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) defended Hunter Biden as he testified behind closed doors for the House impeachment inquiry on Wednesday.
Ocasio-Cortez’s defense of Hunter highlights the shift in her political temperament, from once a left-wing populist to a protector of the Biden family establishment.
“What we witnessed for the last hour was probably a deep-sea fishing expedition,” the Democratic lawmaker argued. “The Republican case has completely collapsed in recent weeks.”
Hunter is a key witness in President Joe Biden’s impeachment inquiry. was denied He was involved in Biden’s business at least nine times.

The House investigation had previously implicated a massive wire transfer scheme, 20 shell companies and associates that funneled at least $24 million from foreigners for Biden’s business over a nearly five-year period. The evidence against Joe Biden is here and here.
“They are [Republicans] They are now scrambling to find something to back up their fairy tale – what should we call it?” Ocasio-Cortez argued.
She added: “But more alarmingly, what we are seeing is a complete and inadequate investigation into the president’s son and other subject matters that have nothing to do with the impeachment inquiry.” I think so,” he continued.

House investigators launched an investigation into the Biden family in November 2022, revealing that Joe Biden had received money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also revealed that nine additional members of the Biden family, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren, received compensation from the family’s overseas business operations.
Hunter insisted Wednesday that, despite mountains of evidence, his father’s involvement in the Biden business was nothing more than a “MAGA-driven conspiracy.” He used careful language in his opening statement, insisting that Joe Biden, 81, was not involved in his business.
Hunter did not specifically say that Joe Biden was not involved in the business. “I didn’t involve my father in my business,” he claimed.
