First on FOX: Government accountability nonprofits are asking House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., to begin an investigation into whether he misused taxpayer-funded member benefits.
Americans for Americans, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, wrote to the Congressional Office of Ethics (OCE) on Tuesday, raising questions about “some troubling expenses” from AOC spending that they allegedly “violated federal law and the House standards.”
According to the Congress Research Service, each member of Congess receives a representative allowance for members (“MRA”), a budget for the official obligation “not used for individual or campaign purposes.” However, “squad” members have been accused of using these funds for “campaign purposes.”
The AOC reportedly paid “Juan D Gonzalez” $3,700, the other from $850 on “Bombazo Dance Co Inc.”, with both spending being used for “training.”

“It's 100% wrong,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez. “This isn't taxpayer money. This is FEC filing. You're loudly wrong about something else. Try again next time.”

The filing states that Ocasio-Cortez is arguing her claim that “these costs are FEC filings” and does not reflect her MRA.[n]One of this is taxpayer money” – it's annoying and obviously wrong. ”
“I don't know the difference between campaign funds and MRAs or more likely, she knows that the highlighted costs should have been paid by the campaign and reported to the FEC, not by the official business.”
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Caitlin Sutherland, American Executive Director of Public Trust, said “the troubling payments that Ocasio-Cortez representatives are funding taxpayers should be investigated to conduct activities such as dance classes.”
“Taxpayer-funded payments by Representative Ocasio-Cortez need to investigate activities such as dance classes. In an age of curbing government spending, Americans deserve to know that lawmakers are good custodians of their taxes.”

Fox News Digital has contacted the Ocasio-Cortez office for comment.
Lawmakers have faced ethical complaints in the past, accusing the creator of Libs Chaya Raichik of “mistakefully denounced” and “deciphered” the 2023 Heritage Foundation of “mistakeful” and “deciphered” the Tiktok Twitter account.
Ocasio-Cortez also faced an ethical investigation after being accused of accepting “an unacceptable gifts related to attending the Met Gala in 2021” in 2023.
